Podcast, painting, and new coaching spots opening up!
Hi friend,
I’ve been slowly recovering from a nasty virus that kicked my ass for the last five weeks, and just want to give you a few work and life updates today!
First of all, my podcast This Is (Not) About Your Body is on hiatus for the rest of the summer, and new episodes won’t be going up until some time in September… but if you haven’t listened to them all yet, there are nearly one hundred episodes to check out, so be sure to go back through!
Plus if you’re dying for new content, you can also catch me on a recent episode of the What The Actual Fork podcast— which is co-hosted by Intuitive Eating Registered Dietitians Sammy Previte (Owner of Find Food Freedom) and Jenna Werner (Owner of Happy Strong Healthy).
Also, I’m always on the lookout for new and interesting podcast guests, to talk about anything and everything relevant to body image, liberation, gender, sex, and self-worth. (Especially guests with marginalized identities, and guests with unique life experiences, perspectives, or areas of expertise!)
>>If you think you or anyone you know, love, or follow would make a great podcast guest on my show, feel free to hit reply and let me know!<<
Next, I’ve been playing around with painting this year, but it really got amped up while I was sick and stuck at home. I don’t know where I want to take it yet, but learning about things like shadow and light, and solving new problems (like… what color is a fucking rock?!) has felt intellectually delicious to me.
Recently I painted this seagull from one of my partner’s wildlife photographs, and I found the process of figuring out color and texture so satisfying:
Now I’m working on a few other pieces, all taken from Drew’s photography collection, including an iguana, a lily pad, and this (unfinished) landscape from one of our local hikes!
Now, I fully recognize that most of my readers and followers are here for transparent processing and body liberation content, and aren’t going to be interested in my art, or my journey as an artist. But the experience has made me realize how much my mind craves the process of learning and problem-solving in a new space, and I’d love to find a way to share it!
Right now I’m just in the very beginning stages of figuring out where I want art to fit into my life.
Do I sell my paintings on Etsy? Offer commissioned pieces? Create a new social media account to share my process and paintings with people interested in that kind of thing? I don’t know yet!
All I know is that it feels wonderful to be back in “beginner mind,” so I plan to keep developing my painting skills in my free time, even now that I’m healthy again. (Feel free to hit reply and share your thoughts on all this, by the way– I’m open to suggestions and feedback!)
Lastly, I want to let you know that I have a few coaching spots opening up in September!
This includes more traditional private coaching (in which we have regular 1:1 sessions), and Voxer-only coaching (in which you get guidance and support via text and voice messages), as well as small group coaching (in which 3 to 5 people go through 12 weeks of coaching together), so no matter your budget— and no matter what you’re looking for help with— there’s an option for you!
So if you’re interested in working with me to improve your relationship with your body, yourself, your sex life, your business, or your loved ones… apply for coaching here, or hit reply to let me know.
That’s it for today. I hope you have a beautiful week!
Big hug,
Jessi
