Hi friend!
I’ll be spending the next couple of days relaxing and spending time with family for the holidays, but I wanted to swing through your inbox with a few important reminders:
Body image issues aren’t actually about the way you look.
Body image issues exist for a deeper underlying reason.
Body image issues are always trying to help or protect you in some way.
Until you figure out the underlying reason/purpose for your body image issues (and deal with that shit directly), your body image issues will not go away.
People often assume I work mostly with insecure young women worried about how they look, but that’s actually just a cultural stereotype, and body image issues don’t discriminate. They can impact anyone, manifest a million different ways, and be rooted in some surprising places, so I actually work with people of all genders, ages, and backgrounds in my coaching practice!
Once we peek behind the curtain and see what someone’s insecurities, anxiety, shame are hiding, we tend to discover an extremely wide ranging list of topics to tackle— this is the deeper stuff that makes someone feel unworthy, misaligned, stuck, or isolated.
(Think: relationships, sex, career, purpose, pleasure, creativity, belonging, self-acceptance, grief, existential beliefs, and more!)
I know that for many of you, the next week or two will be busy, and maybe pretty stressful, and that right now January still feels far away. But I want to put something on your radar now, because I’ll be starting two different small coaching groups in January, and I don’t want you to miss it.
This is what I’ll be running:
Small Group Coaching: Body Neutrality. The first coaching group will be for three to five people struggling with body image issues, who are ready to figure out the underlying root cause for their insecurities, anxiety, shame, or obsession with food, weight, or the way they look, so they can finally let that shit go!Small group coaching is intimate, connective, and more affordable than 1:1 coaching, and I’ve found it to be exceptionally effective and healing for people who are easily overwhelmed or low on bandwidth, as well as for outsiders who never quite feel like they “belong” anywhere, and high achieving perfectionists who constantly compare themselves to others. With only a small number of people in each group you’ll be surprised by how vulnerable, brave, and honest everyone is willing to be, as well as how healing it feels to be seen, understood, validated, and supported by your groupmates. In my experience, there is truly nothing as transformative as sharing your darkest and heaviest thoughts, feelings, fears, and struggles inside a container with other people that is being held with so much safety, light, and love. It is powerful medicine.
Small Group Coaching: HSPThe second coaching group I’m running will be for three to five people who identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (or are curious about the possibility of being a HSP), and are looking to stop feeling so overwhelmed, anxious, “too emotional/needy,” or “overly sensitive” all the damn time. Around twenty percent of the population is estimated to have a genetically heightened level of sensitivity to stimulus (both external like light/sound/touch, and internal like emotions and attachment anxiety). Because the world isn’t really built for us, many HSP end up developing specific qualities, traits, and behaviors that get in our way, as well as specific beliefs and relationship strategies that help us cope, manage, understand or protect ourselves, but keep us stuck in shame and frustration. This coaching group will help you understand, unpack, and explore those qualities, behaviors, and beliefs through the lens of “HSP positivity” (or at the very least, HSP neutrality.) You’ll learn how to accept and embrace your innate sensitivity, while implementing new strategies that work with it, to protect your peace, support your nervous system, and make life feel a whole lot more manageable.Note: private coaching is all about meeting you where you’re at, so there’s no official “syllabus,” but this group will be test-driving some new material I’m creating for HSP on how to get off the “overwhelm roller-coaster,” identify the structural and preventative boundaries needed to avoid getting hijacked by overwhelm, navigate relationships, and feel less “emotionally out of control.” (I have so many tools, concepts, and practices to share about this!)
If you’re interested in joining either small coaching group in January, here are a few more details:
Small group coaching costs $1500, or 3 monthly payments of $550.
The coaching calls will be done over Zoom, and recorded/sent out to you after.
The day and time for our weekly calls are TBD, because they’ll be determined by the schedules and time zones of the people in the group.
Entry into these groups isn’t guaranteed. I need at least three people who are compatible (both in terms of the work they want to do, and their availability) to run each group, so it’s possible that not everyone who wants to join a group will be able to.
That’s it for today– just fill out a coaching application and let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll ask some questions and start putting together the groups!
Happy holidays,
Jessi
